Play Doctor Setup
eMCee can use JRiver Media Center's Play Doctor to generate music based on an artist, genre, composer, or what is currently playing.
Play Doctor requires a one-time JRiver zone setup before eMCee can use it.
1. Create a dedicated Play Doctor zone
Create a dedicated zone in JRiver Media Center for eMCee's Play Doctor requests.
The preferred zone name is:
eMCee Play Doctor
eMCee also accepts these exact zone names:
Play DoctoreMCeeMC
Zone-name matching is case-insensitive, but the name must otherwise match one of the names above exactly.
2. Set the zone to Null Output
In the dedicated Play Doctor zone, set Audio Device to Null Output.
Play Doctor uses JRiver while it builds the generated list. Using
Null Output prevents that JRiver-side audio from being heard through the computer.
3. Confirm Play Doctor works in JRiver
Before testing through eMCee, make sure Play Doctor itself works directly inside JRiver Media Center.
4. Try Play Doctor with eMCee
Alexa, ask eMCee to start Play Doctor
Alexa, ask eMCee to start Play Doctor with artist Prince
Alexa, ask eMCee to start Play Doctor with genre soul
Alexa, ask eMCee to start Play Doctor with composer Bach
eMCee can also start Play Doctor from music that is already playing, including the current song, artist, album, composer, or genre.
Play Doctor still not working?
- Confirm the dedicated JRiver zone has one of the accepted names above.
- Confirm that zone's Audio Device is set to
Null Output. - Confirm Play Doctor works directly inside JRiver Media Center.
